Freedom of Information Act Requests
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA; 5 U.S.C. 552) provides individuals with a right to access to records in the possession of the federal government and not in the public domain. The government may withhold information pursuant to nine exemptions and three exclusions contained in the Act.
Requests for ORIP records should be submitted to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Service Center.
Comprehensive information on making FOIA requests is provided by the National Institutes of Health Freedom of Information Act Office.
